What is Candi Creative?

This is a student run organisation based in the college that wins commercial contracts and produces work for clients. The contracts are handled by The Film and Video Workshop – they are an independent production company who rent room at the college.

What’s in it for me?

Having relevant work experience with a reference will significantly increase you chances of getting work as well as improving your UCAS application, CV and portfolio. It will also build your skills dealing with clients, working to a commercial brief and completing projects as part of a professional team.

What am I signing up for?

When you sign up, you are saying that you are interested in helping out on our commercial projects such as a music video, photoshoot etc. When we get a new job in we will look at the skills needed and send the job details to people who we think could help us. The details will include the number of hours we think it will take and the commitment needed. If you are interested you can apply and if accepted we would expect you to commit to the hours agreed. A typical job might be all day Saturday and 8 hours the following week working at home in your spare time on the footage.

How much time do I have to commit to?

To be a member of Candi Creative you will need to attend some key meetings (about twice a term) and respond to emails when asked to.

Will I get paid?

Some of the work is paid and this will be clear from the start, if you do get paid it will be the minimum wage which is currently £7.70 per hour for 21 years and over, £6.15 for 18-20 years and £4.35 for under 18. See here for government guidance
